2007 Season - Week 1

Five TV Competition

NFL on Channel 5 are running the weekly prediction competition again which was fun last year. It would be great to get the BUMS mentioned a few times by all entering. I’m sure with our collective knowledge we should be able to win a few weeks. Go to www.nfluk.com and register. Use your BUMS team name so we an all identify each other. Once you have a password (they email it to you) you can log in and chose “Predictions” from the “Games” dropdown. Then chose who is going to win each of that weeks games at the click of a button. It’s that easy. Just get your predictions in by 4pm Sunday. Most Fancied NFL Franchises Unsurprisingly the combined wisdom of the BUMS make the Colts the most attractive offensive team as 7 players from Indianapolis were selected to BUMS rosters on Draft day. 5 teams had 6 players selected. Talking of parity all of the NFL teams had at least two players selected - Cleveland, Oakland, Philadelphia, Tampa Bay & Tennessee all had 2 apiece. Early Injuries A number of BUMS have been hurt in week 1 but our thoughts go out to Buffalo TE Kevin Everett who suffered a potentially fatal spinal injury, he’s stable but still critical. Injured BUMS players include Eli Manning whose separated throwing shoulder may keep him out for a month. The Giants also lost RB Brandon Jacobs for 3-5 weeks with a sprained MCL. Jag kicker Josh Scobee is out indefinitely after injuring his leg in warm-ups. David S, Wayne & Marcus may need to trade… Trading Day 1 While some may need to replace injured players AP needs to replace his franchise QB as Michael Vick will not play this season and will be sentenced to jail in December. AP will have to wait a few more weeks as Trading Day 1 will be before the week 5 fixtures on Sunday Oct 7th. We will trade at 4:30pm before the Sky doubleheader. BUMS on Seats. We will be at Mark’s from 6pm on Sunday evening to see the Colts @ the Titans followed by Kansas City @ Chicago. The red key games are Saints @ Bucs and Dallas @ Miami. All are welcome, just let Mark know.
